Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA)

Dr. Ayedh H. AlOtaibi is the Deputy Governor for Investment Climate at the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) since 2017. At SAGIA he leads the Regulations and Competitiveness team and as a result of the team’s work, Saudi Arabia is now considered one of the top reforming countries worldwide in terms of ease of doing business.

Previously Dr. AlOtaibi was Head of the Legal Department at SAGIA and was an instrumental team member of the 10 x 10 program, which was an initiative, aimed at positioning Saudi Arabia to be among top 10 countries in competitiveness.

Dr. AlOtaibi has served in many administrative positions at SAGIA and currently is in charge of developing the legal environment in Saudi Arabia to be more attractive for businesses, which includes participation in drafting and proofing of arbitration laws and their implementation Dr. AlOtaibi graduated from Golden Gate University, School of Law, and San Francisco, CA, USA with an SJD degree (2004) and from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Cleveland, Ohio, USA with an LLM degree (1998). Prior to that he attended King Saud University College of Administration Science where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Law Department, degree (1994).

Dr. AlOtaibi represents SAGIA at the Bureau of Experts is a member of many committees including Chair of the Competition Violations Committee, Member of the Commission for Consumer Protection headed by the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Member of the Permanent Arbitration Committee in Saudi Arabia, and Member of the Committees for Banking and Financial Disputes and Violations.
